Sizing

Obviously, you’ll need to account for your boat’s dimensions and weight. Make sure any trailer you’re looking at has a carrying capacity higher than what you’ll need, to be safe. Your boat’s size will also affect the material of the trailer and the number of axles you’ll want. 

For smaller boats, lighter materials like aluminum and a single axle will be fine. These trailers are cheaper, easier to maneuver, and require less maintenance. For larger boats, however, you’ll need two or more axles and might prefer a steel frame. These are harder to handle and might rust, but they’ll carry the weight just fine.

Bunks Or Rollers

If you’re new to boat trailers, you might want one that rests the boat on rollers. These are easier to load and unload and are great for lighter or simpler models. Bunks tend to be better for bass boats and high-performance models, however.
